Help Me Help You!

It's been a crazy ride this last year and a half, fighting on behalf of current and former students buried under mounds of intractable student loan debt.  I've never been prouder of anything I've ever accomplished in my life and it has been my absolute pleasure working with so many wonderful people in trying to right this enormous injustice.

Unfortunately, unless I'm able to raise enough money to allow me to continue to do this full time, I will not be able to continue my efforts as I will have no choice but to return to the daily grind of the practice of law.  My savings and 401(k) are gone - it was nice while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end. . .unless you're willing to help me help you.

I can't begin to tell you how much i loathe having to extend my hand out and ask for monetary assistance, particularly from a demographic primarily defined by its lack of discretionary income, but unless I do just that, I see no other options for me but to go back to the drudgery of practicing law.

So, this is my last ditch effort to try and remain a full-time advocate for student loan forgiveness and reform.  The lenders have well-paid, powerful lobbyists working on their behalf to maintain the status quo.  The borrowers have nobody but a few good people willing to dedicate their time and efforts to fighting what is clearly an uphill battle.  The scales are clearly tipped in favor of the lenders.

If you want me to remain a full time advocate for student loan forgiveness and reform, I implore you to click on the link below and make a donation to the cause today.  No amount is too big or too small - whatever you can manage to spare will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for all of your help and support  over the course of this endeavor - I sincerely hope I can convince enough of you to help me continue to help you!

Rob, I just wanted to say thank you so much for all you're doing. I was fortunate enough to attend a great school where I flourished, but within three months of obtaining my first job the economy collapsed in the Fall of 2008. My hours were slashed, my first experience with corporate greed. Although my company was still operating profitably, I was still forced to work for a mere $22,000 a year. I know I was fortunate to still be working, but the toll was great on my student loan situation and still is today. I've decided to leave corporate america because of this experience, as I can not even trick myself into performing well or to work under people who support policies where the everyday person finishes last. I don't want to work to make other people rich, so I am now working for a non-profit whose sole goal is to bring healthy foods to our surrounding community. I don't know how I will be able to pay off my loans with my non-profit salary, but at least I will be making a difference. I wanted to let you know I donated $20.00 to you today and I hope you'll keep up your good work and hang in there. I worry a lot about my situation, but log on to the Forgive Student Loan Debt facebook group a lot where I am offered hope, and support.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!

Sincerely,

Evan Elizabeth Miller
