Limbaugh's Reagan Blind-Spot Exposed

A self-professed liberal caller to the Rush Limbaugh Show on Friday, February 4, 2011 confronts El Rushbo with some pretty indisputable facts about Ronald Reagan and asks the perfectly valid question "Why is Ronald Reagan a hero to conservatives?" 

Completely flustered because he's not used to someone calling with actual knowledge and facts, Rush stutters and stammers his way through some meaningless word salad before dismissing the caller as someone who "has to be defeated."  Not once did Rush dispell any of the facts the caller presented him with and not once did Rush actually answer the question. 

I was listening to this in the car on my way to PT today and heard the full exchange.  The above clip, sadly, is incomplete, because it doesn't highlight the full breadth of Limbaugh's ignorance and complete inability to issue a factual, meaningful retort. 

The conversation went on longer than that which is contained in the clip above, after which, Rush cut to commercial, never returning to the subject again.  I'm sure his captivated audience of "dittoheads" were appalled at the notion that Ronald Reagan raised taxes, cut and ran from Lebanon, illegally sold arms to Iran and supported amnesty for illegal immigrants.  Just one problem: all of it is true! 

Limbaugh and his regressive ilk have created this myth about Ronald Reagan that has little connection to reality.  It's gotten to the point where verifiable facts to the contrary don't seem to matter at all  because their curious posthumous cannonization of him, despite his having supported policies that would get him kicked out of today's GOP, is clearly more important than the actual facts about him.
