This official response to our petition on the White House's "We the People" site was, no doubt, posted today to coincide with President Obama's announcement later today regarding changes to the IBR program, as well as the opportunity to consolidate Direct Loans with FFEL loans.
"We know that these steps don’t solve all our problems in higher education. There is still more work to be done to make it possible for every American to earn a quality education. But enormous progress has been made. And by continuing to raise your voices and call for change, you will help to open the doors of higher education to all Americans."
My response to this official response will be forthcoming soon - I want to hear what the President has to say and take a little time to fully digest these proposed changes instead of merely issuing a knee-jerk response.
